Dr. Kim Murphy, MD

Dr. Murphy is a board certified pathologist. He is certified in anatomic and clinical pathology with subspecialty qualification in Blood Banking. He received his M.D. from the University of Tennessee in 1981 and completed his residency in pathology at the Methodist Hospital in Memphis in 1985. He has been practicing pathology for 25 years. He received his special qualification in Blood Banking while serving as medical director of the transfusion service in the United States Air Force at Lackland AFB, Texas. After serving in the USAF, Dr. Murphy went into private practice in pathology at St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas in 1995. He served as medical director of the transfusion service at Baptist Medical Center in addition to performing a full range of anatomic and clinical pathology services. He has been with the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas since 2008 and serves as laboratory medical director at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton, Texas. Dr. Murphy is a member of the Texas Society of Pathologists, College of American Pathologists and the American Association of Blood Banks.
